Department of ecology and evolutionary biology

In our department we value science and education grounded in the natural history of organisms, and strive to understand the patterns and processes that structure communities and ecosystems, and drive evolutionary change over all geographical and time scales. As new methods provide insight into ecological and evolutionary mechanism and function ....

My research laboratory works broadly on human alteration of element cycles (particularly nutrients) in coastal marine ecosystems and in the watersheds that feed them. We also work on the environmental consequences of energy systems, particularly from oil and gas development and from biofuels, emphasizing water quality and greenhouse gas emissions.UConn EEB Department Follow 1,828 1,148 Our #research focuses on #ecology, #evolution, #systematics, #biological #diversity, #conservation, and the functional #biology of organisms. #uconneebEcology and evolutionary biology (EEB) is the study of the patterns and processes that structure ecological systems and drive evolutionary change. Understanding the interactions between organisms and their environments is both fascinating and critical for solving environmental problems. As ecologists, we study natural populations, …
